5 Ways to Guarantee a Stress-Free Wedding Day

Wedding couple holding hands

One of the biggest obstacles facing wedding couples is the sense of responsibility that comes with the day.

While it is almost impossible to shake the feeling that you want all of your guests to be happy, this is a day to celebrate your love.

Make it your mantra to keep this day about you. Keep a clear head and make space for each other, no matter how hectic things may become.

To help you on your journey, here are 5 tips for a stress-free wedding day.

Be Organised

Plan ahead and make sure all conversations regarding costs, logistics, family dynamics and the needs of guests are covered well in advance. These issues are not conducive to romance, or feelings of relaxation close to the day.

Delegate

When last minute issues do arise, make sure you have a trusted friend or family member you can pass responsibilities to. Discuss this with them early on in the planning so they don’t feel burdened and you feel comfortable asking for help.

 Accept the Weather

Like every bride and groom who ever was, you too will be subject to the whims of Mother Nature. Go with it. Sometimes the most surprising beauty, energy and magic memories can come from weather events you did not expect.

Take Care of Yourself

Stress is accumulative. Once it sets in it can be difficult to overcome and it can become chronic. Insomnia, digestive distress, headaches and anxiety can all lead to frayed nerves, high emotions and exhaustion.

Try to maintain your routine as much as possible despite the arrival of guests, rehearsals, bridal showers and family dinners. Maintain light exercise and try not to skip meals. If you feel anxious, eating small regular meals will help keep moods in balance.

Unwind in the evenings, and try to get as much sleep as you need. If relaxing seems impossible, try a massage, aromatherapy, or meditation techniques to help keep grounded, fresh and full of zest for the celebrations on the day.

Take Some Time to Connect with Your Partner

While traditions encourage a sense of mystery before the big day, connecting with your partner can take the form of a text, a note, or a gesture. This will let them know you haven't disappeared into the sea of plans and it is still just you that they are marrying.

And when the day arrives, take a deep breath and take it slowly. Don’t fill your wedding day with last minute appointments. Keep it simple and give yourself plenty of time to dress. And if it all gets too much, don’t forget to laugh!

Remember, it’s just you and your fiancée out there and nothing else is important.
